Karan plays the role of “Ravi Ross” on “Jessie” and now on the spinoff show, “BUNK’D.”
Recently we got a chance to speak to Karan while he was in NYC. Not only is he extremely talented, but he has a great and positive energy.
With a huge fan base behind him, he is very thankful “I am really fortunate to have the fans that I do. “ Even on the way to our interview, on the streets in NYC, Karan was stopped by a woman, who wanted to let him know how much her daughter loves him and the show. “To make them laugh and their family happy is a fun feeling.”
After a suggestion from his father who had taken an acting class in college, Karan decided to take a class and he fell in love with acting.
As the first regular series Indian character, “It is cool and a big step for Disney. Disney is expanding their boundaries. We are going into an era where everyone is more culturally diverse. Their princesses are a perfect example. I feel like Disney has this amazing message where they want every little girl to look up to that TV screen and say, that’s my princess, that’s the one I look up to. I feel like it is really cool that now they are introducing Indian characters and expanding their ethnic horizon, and more kids can have characters they love and connect to.”
Even though it can be a big change filming a spinoff show, Karan is very excited to film “Bunk’d” and work with an amazing cast.
When not acting, Karan enjoys giving back to the community, “I love to volunteer.”
Karan is also taking advantage of the new freedom that comes along with having a license, especially those trips to Taco Bell and a future camping trip that he is planning with his friends to a Hot Springs in California.
If he had the opportunity to play any character from a book or comic book, he told us that even though he has a fear of spiders, he would love to play the role of Spiderman.
The New Year is right around the corner and one of his 2016 goals is to get behind the camera and learn how to direct.
